During the morning, in provinces of Milano, Foggia and Barletta-Andria-Trani, the Carabinieri of the Latisana Company (Udine), with the support from colleagues of the Companies of Abbiategrasso (Milano), Cerignola (Foggia) and Andria (Barletta) have carried out a precautionary custody order in prison, issued by the investigating judge at Court of Udine towards 7 individuals held responsible for the massive theft which occurred during the night between 1 and 2 April 2023 inside a production/commercial plant from Rivignano Teor (Udine), during which more than 1.500 legs of smoked ham were removed, worth over 200.000 euros.
Today's precautionary measures they come following a complex investigation, initiated immediately after the events by the Operational Unit of the Carabinieri Company of Latisana (Udine) under the direction of the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Court of Udine, which allowed us to reconstruct all phases of the crime, ascertaining the exact timing and modus operandi used.
Fundamental to ascertain the facts were the findings of the inspections carried out and viewing of video footage acquired, which when compared with the evidentiary elements that emerged during the technical activities developed upon delegation from the Judicial Authority, allowed us to identify, in today's 7 suspects, the alleged perpetrators of the huge theft, as well as identifying the vehicles used, including three articulated vehicles with which the large quantity of stolen goods had been transported.
The seven arrested, towards whom The presumption of innocence applies until a final sentence has been reached, They were sent to prison, to remain available to the Judicial Authority.
