Tor Bella Monaca: a man and a woman arrested for the crime of arson.

In Rome, in the afternoon of September 7th, the personnel of the State Police Section Judicial Police at the Rome Public Prosecutor's Office, proceeded together with the staff of the Roma Capitale Local Police, VI Group “Towers“, to the execution of thePrecautionary Custody Order in prison issued for crime of arson, on the same date, from Court of Rome – GIP Section – Office 35, following a complex investigative activity coordinated by the Mmagistrates of the Public Prosecutor's Office of Rome.

In particular, in July last year, the staff of Fire fighters had intervened in the parking lot of VI Town Hall of the Municipality of Rome for a fire that had completely destroyed two cars and damaged a third.

The investigations made it possible to identify, through the analysis of video surveillance systems of the area, the car with which, after having filled a bottle of petrol at a nearby petrol station, a man, a 44-year-old Roman with multiple criminal convictions, doused a car with flammable liquid and then set it on fire; Furthermore, it was possible to identify the subjects seriously suspected of having caused the fire, both through the study and comparison of the images acquired, also with the help of specialized personnel from the Scientific Police and through technical activities, and through the traditional stakeouts, shadowing, interrogation of persons informed of the facts, searches and seizures, in particular theseizure of the cell phones of the suspects whose analysis made it possible to find further confirmation of the investigative hypotheses.

The crime would have been committed, for intimidating and/or punitive purposes, to the detriment of one Official of the technical office of the same VI Municipality, who was using the car which was the recipient of the arson attack, because he was "guilty" of having given a negative opinion to a request for amnesty for building violations on a property owned by the arrested person, in the past his colleague from the same Office.

In any case, the two suspects are to be considered presumed innocent, in consideration of the current phase of the proceedings or that of the preliminary investigations, until a definitive finding of guilt with irrevocable sentence.
