Three administrators of an agricultural cooperative caught burning kilos of waste have been reported by the Carabinieri.

The activity to combat criminal phenomena in environmental matters continues by the Carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Ragusa, also with activities aimed at stemming the phenomenon of so-called cc.dd. “fumaroles”.

In particular, on the morning of 8 February, the soldiers of the Carabinieri Station of Scoglitti, during the control activity of the territory in the seaside hamlet, observed the presence of a dark cloud, and a strong acrid smell in the air, presumably attributable to combustion of plastic materials.

From what was observed, the Carabinieri, following the origin of the cloud, arrived near land attributable to an agricultural cooperative managed by three Vittorias identified respectively in LTP, cl. 70, LTA, cl.75 and GF cl.92.

From the checks carried out immediately on the sites, the military was able to document the presence of several hundred kilos of plastic, wood, metal waste and agricultural processing waste, and in particular the administrators were caught while setting fire to said waste inside a large reservoir created specifically for the illicit activity.

After securing the area affected by the combustion, the Carabinieri carried out investigations into the agricultural cooperative and the subjects were released in a state of freedom by the Judicial Authority. It was operated at the same time preventive seizure of the area affected by the combustion, plus a further neighboring area of ​​approximately 100 mXNUMX, also found to be used for the illicit storage of waste.
