Theft, receiving stolen goods, extortion and money laundering: 27-year-old from Marsala in handcuffs.

The Carabinieri of the Marsala station have arrested, in compliance with a provision for the execution of concurrent sentences and concurrent imprisonment order, issued by the criminal execution office of the Court of Marsala, a man from Marsala born in '96 having to serve a 5-year sentence and 2 months of imprisonment for various crimes such as: criminal association aimed at committing theft, receiving stolen goods, money laundering and extortion.

The 27-year-old, together with 8 other people, all from Marsala, operated mainly in the municipality of Paceco, carrying out thefts of mopeds and motorcycles and home burglaries in 2018 and 2019. During the investigations, serious circumstantial elements were acquired against the suspects, of which some already burdened by criminal and police records who, depending on their role, proceeded to commit thefts of motor vehicles, to assemble several parts belonging to different mopeds and to alter the chassis number of the vehicles resulting from the theft in order to hinder the verification of the criminal origin of the vehicles. Furthermore, 14 episodes of theft from homes, on public roads and inside parked vehicles were ascertained, and one extortion episode, with the so-called technique of return horse. In May 2020, the orders for the application of precautionary measures against the suspects were carried out by the Carabinieri of the Trapani Company.

At the end of the formalities, the man was taken to his home under house arrest.
