In view of the upcoming Christmas holidays, as ordered by the Police Commissioner of Lecce, prevention activity continues aimed at combating trade and illegal detention of fireworks and to curb the phenomenon of sales andignition of explosive material which, carelessly turned on during the end-of-year holidays, often causes accidents with serious consequences for thesafety of users.

In the early afternoon of yesterday 13 December 2023, the Agents of the Judicial Police Team of the Galatina Police Station, following meticulous info-investigative activity, proceeded to carry out a house search at the home of a young person resident in the relevant territory.

The activity allowed one to find – inside one white box hidden in the closet/storage compartment – explosive material consisting of no. 4 large pyrotechnic devices of illicit origin which was subsequently subjected to the restriction of criminal seizure by policemen intervened for the subsequent destruction.

The eighteen year old, originally from Cutrofiano, he was reported in a state of freedom to the local Public Prosecutor's Office for the crime of illegal detention of explosive material of illicit origin (as required by art. 53 TULPS)
