Taxi, a new strike has been proclaimed for 5 and 6 June

After the failure to convene the government

Taxi, a new strike has been proclaimed for 5 and 6 June.

New national strike proclaimed by taxi drivers unions. This time the stop will be for 48 hours, on 5 and 6 June.

“Since no summons were received after the national strike scheduled for May 21st against i widespread illegal practices present in the sector and to ask for the regulation of technological platforms, we were forced to proclaim a new national shutdown”, the acronyms explain Ugl taxi, Federtaxi Cisal, Satam, Tam, Claai, Unione Artigiani, Unione Taxi Drivers of Italy, Uritaxi, Fast Confal taxi, Unica taxi Cgil, Orsa taxi, Usb taxi, Unimpresa, Sitan/Atn.

“You cannot continue to be a taxi driver in Rome or elsewhere with impunity, using a rental permit obtained in Calabria. Milano, thus effectively preventing local administrations, in a planning logic, from being able to size their staff according to their needs", the unions continue.

For trade unionists “the government must necessarily reopen the discussion, interrupted after the arrival in our country of one of Uber's top global executives to define a framework of rules that combats the phenomenon of illegal activity and is clear for everyone".

Taxi drivers' unions remember that “taxis are a public service with an administered tariff, performance obligation and shifts. Which doesn't happen with Uber, for example, which has an algorithm that causes prices to skyrocket in the presence of growing demand."
