Taranto, attack in the churchyard: detention orders carried out by the State Police

Taranto, Two precautionary custody orders in prison were carried out by the Flying Squad of Taranto against the two subjects, aged 42 and 38 respectively, already arrested last 13 June for resistance and violence against a public official.
It will be remembered that, on that occasion, the two, identified as the perpetrators of a violent attack in the churchyard of the Sacred Heart Church in Via Dante, had prevented the search inside the bar where they had found refuge, continuing with violence and even threats. inside the service vehicles and towards the police officers who intervened.
The meticulous investigative activity carried out by the Flying Squad made it possible to reconstruct what happened late last Sunday afternoon.
The two, after having beaten an elderly gentleman on the public street, using a gun, prevented those who came to the victim's aid from calling the police.
In particular, it was found that the two pointed a gun to force the driver of a car that was passing by and wanted to help the victim to move away.
Subsequently, the weapon was pointed at the volunteer who, in the churchyard, was regulating the entry of the faithful and had intervened to help the elderly man.
Third attack, including slapping, on the parish priest of the church, who rushed to the churchyard to prevent further attacks on other volunteers and faithful.
The issuing of the precautionary custody order in prison originates from the exceptional dangerousness and intolerance of the prescriptions dictated by the police on the part of the offenders who, even through the use of a gun, attacked, threatened and beat subjects other than the elderly, the primary target of the violent conduct.
The seriousness of the conduct and the particular and violent attitude emerge particularly from the attack on the volunteer, who was forced to kneel down after swinging the weapon as if to prepare the shot, hitting him on the head with the butt of the gun.
The two offenders will have to answer, in addition to resistance and violence against a public official, also for aggravated injuries, private violence, possession and carrying of a firearm in a public place and disruption of religious functions.
