Syracuse: Carabinieri arrest 3 people for the murder of Sebastiano Palermo

On Tuesday 5 November the Carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Syracuse, with the support of the Helicopter Squadron "Cacciatori Sicilia", Three men aged 31, 25 and 23 arrested, originally from Lentini and Carlentini (SR), seriously indicted for the murder of 38-year-old Sebastiano Palermo, committed on Last February 18th in LentiniThe arrests were made in execution of the precautionary custody order issued by the Judge for Preliminary Investigations at the Court of Syracuse at the request of the Public Prosecutor's Office which coordinated the investigations conducted by the Carabinieri.

On the night of February 18, 2024, three uncovered hitmen, have Palermo Sebastiano was killed with three gunshots fired at close range, surprising him inside his home in the historic center of Lentini, then driving away on board a BMW X6, filmed by some video surveillance cameras.

The images taken by the cameras pointed at the entrance of the victim's house and the results of the inspection and technical surveys carried out by the Catania Scientific Investigations Section, immediately led to the assumption that the victim knew his attackers, to whom he had opened the door in the middle of the night, without particular precautions. Also for this reason the crime appeared particularly brutal just as the homicidal intent of the three who conducted the crime was immediately evident to the Carabinieri a real punitive expedition developed in a few seconds.

The investigative activities conducted immediately after the fact by the Carabinieri of the Investigative Unit of Syracuse through technical interception activities, analysis of telephone records, viewing of video surveillance footage, and questioning of witnesses have allowed to reconstruct the dynamics of the murder, identify the authors and trace the plausible economic motive.

Important in the reconstruction of the dynamics were the ballistic surveys, the technical investigations and comparisons carried out by the Carabinieri of the RIS of Messina, with the discovery of gunpowder residues on the car used by the hitmen, a large SUV rented for the occasion, which allowed the circle to be closed around those responsible.

One of the three suspects, the 31enne, the measure was notified in prison, where it was already for others crimes against the person and related to narcotics.
