Siena, dispersion of hydrocarbons in the sewerage network: remediation interventions are immediate.

The Forestry Carabinieri of the Investigative Unit of the Environmental, Agri-Food and Forestry Police (NIPAAF) of Siena have brought to the attention of the Public Prosecutor's Office of Siena the results of the investigative activities carried out regarding the spillage of hydrocarbons into the sewerage network at the TAMOIL fuel distributor site in Siena, S.da Massetana, 61, outlining some profiles of responsibility for what happened. The facts date back to the end of January, when, following the report of some citizens residing in the area, the Siena Fire Brigade had ascertained that the hydrocarbon fumes coming from the sewer pipe had saturated the rooms of some houses located near of the distributor, to the point of compromising its usability, so much so that a municipal ordinance was issued aimed at suspending the activity of the distributor and preventing access to their homes by some families residing in Via Cassia Sud. Following the event, The reclamation and safety work on the site was immediately undertaken, so much so that in recent days the residents were able to return to their homes.

The Forestry Carabinieri of the Province of Siena continue to be actively engaged in combating illicit conduct concerning the waste cycle and pollution of environmental matrices (water, air, soil), both in agricultural and industrial contexts, to protect health public and environmental quality.
