She would have taken advantage of her role as post office manager to steal 600 thousand euros from account holders. Then, once she realized that she was under investigation, she would call the unsuspecting victims, urging them not to make statements to the investigators.
This is the accusation made against an Italian Post Office official serving in the Caserta area, in Santa Maria Capua Vetere, arrested and taken under house arrest by the Financial Police for the crimes of embezzlement and self-laundering. The suspect was clearly also notified of a seizure order for the stolen 600 thousand euros.
The investigation started from the complaint of an account holder from Caserta and allowed us to reconstruct an intricate system of appropriation of customers' money, who were then contacted by telephone when the official discovered they were under investigation. The director would also have used third parties to warn the account holders.
Poste Italiane confirmation “to have promptly identified illicit activities and to have constantly collaborated in the carrying out of the investigations by the police in order to allow the positive outcome of the operation".
