Sestri Levante (Genoa), Rolex thefts committed with the “hug technique”. Another gang busted by the State Police

In the last few days, following the investigation activities of the Chiavari Police Station, a precautionary measure of detention in prison, issued by the Court of Genoa, against a 30-year-old Romanian woman, held responsible for a theft by dexterity carried out with the "hug technique".

At the beginning of August, a shopkeeper from Sestri Levante, while he was inside his shop, was approached by the young woman who, after asking to see some goods, she had made advances towards him, approaching him to hug him. The man had rejected her, but as soon as she had left, he had noticed that she had stolen his watch, a Rolex worth 8 thousand euros.

As soon as they learned the news, the agents of the investigative team reconstructed the event and, thanks to the acquisition of the images from the video surveillance of the Municipalities of Sestri Levante and Chiavari, they learned that the woman, once she had escaped from the shop, had reached two men and, together, they had driven away on board their car.

The following day, on the instructions of the Chiavari Police Station, the officers of the Ventimiglia Police Station they tracked down the car, with only the two men on board, a 20-year-old and a 29-year-old Romanian.

Following a search, the two occupants were found in possession of several Rolex watches, including the one stolen in Sestri, and were therefore placed under arrest by the Judicial Police for the crime of receiving stolen goods and taken to the San Remo prison.

After the arrest, the presumed perpetrator of the theft was also identified. The Genoa Public Prosecutor's Office, therefore, given that this is a serious crime and given the numerous specific precedents of the same, requested the GIP to issue a precautionary detention order in prison.

On October 14, the woman was accompanied to the Trani prison by the Carabinieri of Acquaviva delle Fonti di Bari.
