Serious accident in Peru, bus falls off cliff, 6 Italians involved.
In Peru, a serious accident involved a tourist bus carrying about 30 people, including six Italian citizens. The vehicle was traveling along the zigzagging road that connects the famous Inca citadel of Machu Picchu to the tourist town of Aguas Calientes, when the driver lost control, causing the bus to fall about 15 meters down a cliff.
The accident resulted in serious injuries to several passengers, including the six Italians, who suffered multiple fractures. The injured were immediately transported to the Cusco hospital for medical treatment.
In addition to Italian tourists, the injured included citizens from several countries, including Chile, Guatemala, Mexico, Japan and China. Immediately after the crash, local authorities and residents rushed to the scene to provide first aid and help the injured reach the nearest health center.
Peruvian authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident. It is believed that the driver may have lost control of the vehicle on the winding mountain route.
In the meantime, the Italian Embassy in Lima, in coordination with the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and local authorities, immediately took action to ensure consular assistance to the Italian citizens involved in the accident and to provide support to their families. The situation is being monitored closely, with the aim of ensuring the best possible treatment for the injured tourists and a rapid return to safety.
