Serious accident at work for an illegal worker: company in Casalmoro (MN) closed and owners reported.

It was the February 27 last, when OC, 27 year old of Nigerian origins, legally on the national territory, employed "off the books" at a company in Casalmoro, was the victim of a serious accident at work. The worker's arm got stuck in a machine used for processing plastic, which almost caused it to be amputated. The man, without requiring immediate medical intervention, with a private car he was transported to the Asola emergency room, where he was "unloaded" and left alone. The employers, given the employee's irregularity, reported nothing and reported nothing to the relevant control bodies regarding the accident that occurred.

From that moment the young man's ordeal began, and he was subsequently transferred with a reserved prognosis to the “C. Poma” of Mantua, where he remained hospitalized for the very serious injuries sustained until the first days of June. Once discharged, last June 12th, he went to the hospital Bozzolo Carabinieri station, where he denounced what happened. The soldiers of the Carabinieri, coordinated by the Virgilian Public Prosecutor's Office, given the seriousness of the facts narrated, promptly took action, carrying out all the necessary investigations. Yesterday, therefore, i Carabinieri of the Viadana Company, together with those of Labor Inspectorate Unit of Mantua and to Inspectors of the Valpadana ATS, carried out an inspection at the company indicated by the complainant which allowed them to acquire further evidentiary evidence regarding what was reported by the complainant.

During the investigation they were identified 3 additional foreign workers, illegal immigrants on the national territory e immense regularly hired. At the end of the verification, according to the accusatory hypothesis, we proceeded with the complaint from the two owners and managers of the company – of Chinese origins – and to the preventive seizure of the production plant for the serious violations found relating to hygiene and safety in the workplace, for the use of illegal labor and for the crime of very serious negligent injury. At the same time, fines totaling 193.000 euros were imposed. The Provincial Command of the Carabinieri of Mantua, very sensitive to this problem, together with the Virgilian Labor Inspectorate, continues incessantly to prepare and carry out numerous control services for production activities, in order to combat the deplorable phenomenon of undeclared work and guarantee ever greater protection and safety of workers.
