Sassari, Mayor Mascia's statements following the armed assault on the Mondialpol headquarters
The very serious assault armed attack carried out on Friday evening at the Mondialpol headquarters in Sassari alarms and causes great anger. Let's watch for the umpteenth time in a short time to the entry into action of organized crime in our territory and prepared, unscrupulous, without scruples, that undermines the safety of our community and endangers the lives of ordinary people to achieve its deplorable goals.
It is now a criminal phenomenon that, by frequency and severity, substitute in the global imagination the plague represented in the past by kidnappings, by providing a misleading image of Sardinia, which discourages investments and any process of socio-economic and employment relaunch.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all public safety workers. who, at the cost of putting their own lives at risk, they intervened promptly and ensured the safety of many people who despite themselves found themselves experiencing truly terrible moments. Without their contribution, the story could have taken on dramatic contours.
Trusting in the work of the police and investigators to bring those responsible for this new alarming attack on public safety to justice, I hope for immediate and extraordinary interventions by the State to put a stop to this very dangerous drift. Of this I spoke on the phone with the Prefect of Sassari on Friday morning, to which I represented all our apprehension and all our disapproval. In sharing my same moods and the same urgency to intervene, the Prefect has announced the extraordinary convocation of the provincial Committee for public order and safety for next Thursday, during which Friday's events will have absolute priority.
The Municipality of Sassari is ready to do its part, together with all the local institutions, to promote the marginalization and extinction of a phenomenon that does not belong to the culture and identity of our city and of North West Sardinia.
