The General Commander, Gen. CA Teo Luzi, in the morning, presented the Historical Calendar of the Carabinieri 2025 edition. The work was illustrated by the famous television host Marco Liorni, in the splendid setting of the Auditorium Parco della Musica.
“The Carabinieri and the young” is the theme of the new Historical Calendar, created with the contribution of famous figures of the Italian artistic and literary scene, Marco Lodola and Maurizio de Giovanni; the former, who curated the graphic design of the work, is considered a multifaceted artist of the New Futurism and Italian Pop Art, while the latter, a successful Neapolitan writer, is known for the series “Il Commissario Ricciardi”, “I Bastardi di Pizzofalcone”, “Mina Settembre”.
The texts that accompany the 12 tables describe an epistolary dialogue between a Marshal Station Commander, a widower, and his son, a student struggling with the challenges of everyday life and with the pain, shared with his father, for the loss of his mother. The Marshal uses as a key to dialogue some stories from his work, speaking of some episodes of service that touch on themes such as bullying, addictions, environmental protection and respect for others, inclusiveness and social loneliness.
She thus manages to overcome the obstacles and recurring difficulties in the communication relationship between adults and children with a method that is as astute as it is discreet: knowing the boy's habit of leafing through photo albums that also portray his deceased mother, she decides to insert some notes inside, asking him to remove them if they have been read and, therefore, appreciated.
In this way, Maurizio de Giovanni manages to romanticize the relationship between new generations and legality, with a direct and empathetic language, summarizing paternal love, values and trust in the young generations in a sort of moral testament.
The tables, instead, depict, in the unmistakable pop style of Marco Lodola, carabinieri of the various branches of the force and young figures, in the paper version of the "luminous sculptures" that made him famous throughout the world.
The calendar aims to valorize young people, an invaluable asset for all and a precious investment for the future of the country, recalling one of the main preventive activities carried out by the Carabinieri in their favor, the meetings in schools on the "Culture of legality", which aim to promote knowledge of the law and civic culture.
A unique and privileged opportunity to be treasured to develop in the younger generations the sensitivity towards the most sensitive social issues, legality and environmental issues, and increase the awareness of their precious role for the social, economic and democratic growth of the country.
The November table, through the representation of a soldier for each Armed Forces, is dedicated to “Defense” and its values. The choice of the month coincides with the anniversary of the “Day of National Unity and the Armed Forces”, which we celebrate on November 4, this year sealed by the ceremony in the city of Venice and by the “Defense Village” set up at the Circus Maximus from November 1 to 4, where citizens can discover our Armed Forces.
The great curiosity aroused by the Historical Calendar of the Carabinieri, which has now reached a circulation of 1.200.000 copies and has been translated into eight foreign languages (English, French, Spanish, German, Portuguese, Japanese, Chinese and Arabic) as well as Sardinian and Friulian, is a clear demonstration of the esteem and gratitude that the Institution enjoys from the community. The high significance of its contents make it an appreciated, coveted and present object in homes and workplaces as well as in schools and places of social aggregation, almost as a testimony to the fact that "next to every citizen there is a Carabiniere". The publication of the Calendar, now in its 92nd edition, after the post-war interruption from 1945 to 1949 was resumed regularly in 1950 and since then it has been a punctual interpreter, with its tables, of the events of the Carabinieri and, through it, of the History of Italy.
In addition to the Calendar, the 2025 edition of the Agenda has also been published, whose work represents the editorial continuity of the Calendar, reporting de Giovanni's stories as the opening of each single month.
Two more works complete the editorial offer for the year 2025.
The desk calendar, dedicated again this year to the theme “The Carabinieri in the Most Beautiful Villages of Italy” and created with shots of the most suggestive and tradition-rich municipalities of the boot, from North to South, including: Sappada (UD), Civitella del Tronto (TE), Suvereto (LI), Posada (NU), Locorotondo (BA) and Gerace (RC). The entire proceeds from the sale of the desk calendar will be donated, as in previous years, to the National Assistance Organization for the Orphans of the Military of the Carabinieri.
The Table Planning instead focuses on the theme "The international commitment of the Carabinieri. Cooperation activities and operational theaters", with the aim of illustrating the delicate and precious activity that the force carries out outside the national territory, carrying out with professionalism and dedication both the tasks of stability policing and security and surveillance of diplomatic offices, a commitment highly appreciated by the international community.
The proceeds of this editorial product will be donated again to a pediatric hospital, identified this year in the Santobono of Naples.
Today, in conjunction with the presentation of the editorial products, the Galleria Deodato Arte, which represents the artist, opens (until November 16, in via Giulia 122 in Rome) the exhibition “Marco Lodola. Luci Blu”.
The artist's unpublished collection displays light sculptures and sketches inspired by the Carabinieri used to create the 2025 edition of the Historical Calendar. The exhibition was created to pay homage to the Institution that, with its history of over two centuries, has now become an iconographic element that belongs to the Italian popular imagination.

Foreword by the Commander-in-Chief, Gen. CA Teo Luzi:
If there is a time in life that should never be wasted, it is the time when we talk to our young people. They are seeds that we throw so that the future may be more beautiful and luxuriant. To this end, we must plant Values, strong roots and high branches that look to the sky.
Maurizio de Giovanni is a great author of our time. His Naples of Commissioner Ricciardi, Bastardi di Pizzofalcone and Mina September, novels that have become hugely successful television series, is redemption from crime and a drive towards a more humane and more just society. We could not help but entrust him with a work on legality dedicated to the new generations, which touches on the issues on which their game is played.
We are accompanied on this journey by the valuable illustrations of Marco Lodola, a world-renowned pop artist, an exponent of New Futurism who recently “decorated” with his luminous sculptures the facades and windows of prestigious boutiques in Rome, New York, Paris, Singapore, and then the Gallerie Lafayette in Doha on the occasion of the football World Cup in Qatar.
The idea of a marshal who, with short and incisive letters, tells his son about his job and his soul as a carabiniere is very beautiful. His wife passed away but he and the boy remained a family, "perhaps even more so". So the father decides to pass on what he has learned from his experience, with simple words aimed at tearing the veil of incommunicability that sometimes separates children from their parents. He does it with a love that he is not ashamed to show, because you always have to say I love you, "better one more time than one less".
He warns the young man to beware of drugs, which make one “cowards, liars, cowards, deceitful.” Which makes one “go away, into a deep hell” from which “one never returns.” He urges him to treat the city as if it were his home, to stay away from “packs,” to ban any form of bullying, to respect women. He reminds him that those who are right “never need to shout.”
It is a moral testament to be preserved in life, which will make both grow. But the story of a small family acquires, through the touching teachings of a marshal, a universal value. It expresses the feelings and commitment that every good carabiniere, every good citizen must have towards his neighbor. If we all educate our children to respect others, the game of the future is already won.
There are important challenges on the horizon: safeguarding the planet, preserving peace, managing artificial intelligence as best as possible while avoiding the risks to a democracy that has been hard-won over the centuries. In these pages, which I hope will be appreciated, there is an idea on how to face them.
Once again the Historical Calendar of the Carabinieri Corps highlights the arts, which are at home in the Bel Paese, without forgetting their educational value. Once again it is our opportunity to wish all readers a New Year full of joy and serenity.
