Rome, "Safe Stations" operation: Police checks in Lazio stations

Rome, One person reported and 2.958 people checked; 161 bags inspected, 7 fines high and 11 security services on board 30 trains. These are the results of the fourth day called "Safe Stations", which took place yesterday, 28 April, with extraordinary checks on travelers and baggage, in the main stations of Lazio and on board regional and long-distance trains.

The operation, which involved 200 operators from the Railway Police Department for Lazio, was carried out simultaneously in all the main Italian railway stations by the Railway Police Service, as part of a national plan of extraordinary checks, with the aim of countering illicit activities and prevent possible illegal actions. The device was also oriented towards compliance with the rules regarding the containment of the Covid-19 coronavirus epidemic, with the widespread monitoring of traveler flows and the control of the legitimacy of movements.

65 railway stations were attended by Polfer operators in order to prevent any criminal activities, such as crossing tracks, getting on or off moving trains, undue presence on the railway line, crossing closed or moving level crossings, which are frequently the cause of railway accidents.
