Rome: Mobile Angel is now operational, a smartwatch connected to the Carabinieri to ask for help in the event of an assault
"Mobile Angel” is a service launched in the Capital through collaboration between the Carabinieri and the Soroptimist International Club of Rome, Roma Tiber and Roma Tre and entirely supported by the Lottomatica Foundation.
It is highlighted that, as early as 2015, a fruitful collaboration has been started between the Carabinieri and Soroptimist International of Italy, consisting in the promotion and implementation of the project “A room all to yourself", which has led, at present, to the setting up, inside the barracks of the Carabinieri, of over 200 premises suitable for listening to women who have suffered gender-based violence, as well as other vulnerable victims.
Following the signing of the technical protocol between the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Court and the Provincial Carabinieri Command of Rome, which provides for the use of the “Mobile Angel” system, to assign a further tool to protect victims of gender-based violence, the Intellitronika company provided the Carabinieri with wrist alarm devices that, connected to the telephone network via the user's mobile device, through a careful examination of all cases of gender-based violence, in agreement with the Magistrates of the Rome Public Prosecutor's Office, will be delivered to victims, identified from time to time, always with their prior consent.
The project that includes the Wearable device for the protection of women in danger. It is a kind of SmartWatch directly connected to the operations centre of the Provincial Carabinieri Command of Rome which, worn by the victim of stalking or gender-based violence, could be activated directly by the same that he sees himself in danger but also automatically in case of aggression. The device is equipped of a microphone and a geolocation device, in order to make the intervention of the Carabinieri quicker and more effective even when the attacked person cannot speak.
