To ensure safety, it is necessary that, where the State Police is on the “front line”, all other actors in civil society actively support it, in a spirit of effective and mutual collaboration. In these terms, an important tool is the “YouPol” application of the State Police: downloadable for free on your smartphone, it allows anyone, guaranteeing anonymity, to interact in real time 24 hours a day with the police, offering the possibility of reporting various crimes – mainly episodes of drug dealing, bullying and domestic violence – also by sending photos and videos.
It was thanks to several reports sent by residents and traders in the Casilino area via the “YouPol” application that the agents of the VI Casilino District, after a targeted stakeout service, They arrested a thirty-two-year-old and a forty-year-old – both Tunisians – for possession of narcotics with intent to deal.
During a careful observation and shadowing activity, the agents managed to reconstruct their modus operandi: one of the two, who acted as lookout, signalled the approach of the presumed buyer, while the other, in turn, took a cellophane bag duly hidden with a magnet under a rubbish bin and then carried out the exchange activity. The first buyer was stopped by the plainclothes officers, and the suspicion of a drug dealing was immediately confirmed: at the sight of the officers, the user spontaneously handed over four heat-sealed packages containing a drug, which later turned out to be cocaine. The same dynamic occurred shortly after with another buyer, who was also promptly stopped by the police.
The subsequent exchange, however, was blocked at birth. Surrounded by the police, the two pushers were found in possession of 21 doses of cocaine for a total weight of 12 grams, duly packaged and ready for sale. One of the two accomplices also had more than 200 euros in cash on him, presumably the proceeds of their illicit activity.
At the end of the investigations, the thirty-two-year-old and the forty-year-old – both already convicted for specific crimes – ended up in handcuffs, seriously suspected of the crime of possession of narcotics for the purpose of dealing.
The judge validated the arrest.
