Rome, human trafficking and prostitution: 44-year-old arrested

The man had been wanted since 2016, a European arrest warrant was pending, issued by the Romanian authorities, for a prison sentence of 9 years and 8 months for the crimes of human trafficking, aiding and abetting, exploitation of prostitution and criminal association. The man was tracked down by the State Police during some street checks and, despite identifying himself with a false document, he was arrested.

Police officers of the Flying Squad State of Rome, thanks to the collaboration with the SIRe.NE office Italy (Supplementary Information Request at National Entries), arrested a 44-year-old Romanian citizen, in execution of a European arrest warrant, issued by the Romanian authorities, having to serve the prison sentence of 9 years and 8 months for the crimes of human trafficking, aiding and abetting, exploitation of prostitution and criminal association.

In particular, the man had formed an organized criminal association with other people, which were involved between 2011 and May 2016 in recruitment, transportation, provision of housing and sexual exploitation (forcing them to prostitute themselves) in Romania and abroad (Italia) of several victimsand (adults and minors) coming from disadvantaged families with low levels of education, poor and vulnerable. La wanted person sexually exploited, transported, transferred, provided accommodation and checked a underage girl (16 years old at the time of recruitment), forcing her into prostitution between February 2015 and May 2016. Between August and October 2015 the subject recruited and transported a minor girl (17 years old at the time of recruitment) with the aim of exploit her sexually, inducing her to prostitute herself.

Il 44 year old, already arrested in 2016 in execution of another MAE(European arrest warrant), he had evaded delivery and lost track of himself before the expected process was completed. Furthermore, he was wanted in Italy for two prison orders and a precautionary custody order in prison.

After a meticulous investigative activities with continuous information exchanges with the Fast unit of the SIRe.NE Italia office, in recent days, the agents they succeeded to intercept a series of potential information sources on which to work, also by monitoring some social media used by people believed to be close to the accused, and then to track down the wanted person during some street checks near peripatetics; on that occasion, despite identifying himself with a false document, he was arrested.
