Rome, Europol's "RAD - Referral Action Day" operation concluded: 2 contents blocked

The postal and cyber security police officers participated in a European-wide operation, coordinated by Europol, which involved law enforcement agencies from 18 countries. The "RAD - Referral Action Day against antisemitism" operation served to combat online terrorism and remove any denialist and supremacist content.

Concluded throughout Europe, under the aegis of Europol – the European Union law enforcement agency which brings together the law enforcement agencies of different countries – the operation “RAD – Referral Action Day against antisemitism”, is preferably used for removal of any type of content with a denialist and supremacist tenor.

The Action Day was coordinated by the European Union Internet Reference Unit (EU IRU) and involved the police forces of 18 Countries, that have worked in collaboration with major online service providers.

The State Police are on the front line, that has participated in the operation with the operators of the Postal Police Service and Cyber ​​Security and Central Directorate of Prevention Police, specialists which operate with exclusive prerogatives in the particular sector of combating online terrorism.

The activity in question has targeted a wide range of illegal content, among which the CD Hate Speech, the Holocaust denial, la glorification of violence against the Jewish community, with the main objective to remove illegal content on the internet and ensure compliance of online platforms with European regulations on racial discrimination.

Particularly, the operation just concluded was born from the notable increase in subversive content, also due to the events of October 7th e to the current international geopolitical context, often widespread also awithin confidential online communications platforms animated by users linked to extremist, even jihadist, ideologies.

In total, have been identified and reported in total approximately 2.000 illegal contents from Europol and participating countries to online service providers for removal. Among these digital resources, around 160 URLs - mainly referring to accounts on social media and messaging apps – have been inserted into the platform called Perci by the experts of Postal Cyberterrorism Section, for subsequent removal.
