Reggio Calabria, “Joy's Seaside” operation: the police arrest 17 people for mafia and drug dealing

Reggio Calabria, A vast operation by the State Police of Reggio Calabria has been underway since the early hours of this morning, coordinated by the District Anti-Mafia Directorate, aimed at the execution of 17 precautionary custody orders issued against as many subjects from Gioia Tauro (RC) held responsible, in various capacities, for mafia-type criminal association, criminal conspiracy aimed at international drug trafficking, complicity in the possession, sale and transfer to third parties of narcotic substances, even in large quantities, such as cocaine, hashish and cannabis sativa, complicity in the possession of weapons and ammunition, damage, extortion and other crimes .

The policemen of the PS Commissariat of Gioia Tauro and of the Flying Squad of the Police Headquarters of Reggio Calabria, assisted by the crews of the Crime Prevention Department and the Flying Squad of Udine, are also carrying out house searches on the suspects with the use of over 200 agents .

The "Lungomare" of Gioia Tauro and the "Rione Marina" had become "enclaves" and "strongholds" of the 'ndrina disjointed with today's arrests.

Large quantities of drugs and weapons were seized and cannabis sativa plantations were located, including in the center of Gioia Tauro.
