Bad weather continues in Emilia-Romagna and Tuscany: evacuations, closed roads and red alert for flood risk. The Government and Civil Protection are ready to intervene to support the affected communities.

Evacuations along the Lamone river in Ravenna

Due to the serious hydraulic criticality along the Lamone River, the Municipality of Ravenna has ordered evacuations in the at-risk districts. Santerno and Ammonite must be completely evacuated, while specific measures apply to other areas. A reception point has been set up for those in need.

In consideration of the current hydraulic criticality, evacuations have been ordered by the Municipality of Ravenna which concern the hamlets along the Lamone river.

L'evacuation is total for Santerno and Ammonite, from the border with the municipality of Russi to the Ammonite roundabout.

As regards the fractions of Mezzano, Glorie, Borgo Masotti, Torri, Grattacoppa, Conventello and San Romualdo, anyone within 300 metres of the Lamone embankment must leave the property. Everyone else can go to the upper floors, obviously only if they are in a multi-story building.

Those who cannot be hosted by family or friends can go to reception point set up by the Municipality in the Iti and Geometri gyms, with entrance from via Cassino, which will be open from 18 pm today, Friday 14 March.

Red alert for the Arno in Pisa

The markets in via Paparelli and via San Martino have also been suspended for Saturday 15 March. In addition, the Environment Office communicates that it is proceeding with the removal of above-ground bins from the areas adjacent to the Lungarni. The activity may require the intervention of the Municipal Police to remove vehicles that hinder the operations.
Given the persistence of the red criticality bulletin, the evacuation of people present in the buildings and areas of the Golena d'Arno, in via II Settembre and Lungarno D'Annunzio, on the Arno side, between the CEP bridge and the mouth of the Arno river is ordered until the end of the emergency; all activities in the same areas are also ordered to close until the end of the red code weather alert.

The situation in Livorno and Pistoia

Because of the very heavy rains also In Livorno several road closures have been ordered for safety reasons. Among the main closed arteries are via Firenze, il Romito, the Aurelia variant (southern section) and the Montenero tunnel. THEthe situation shows no signs of improving, the level of the streams is rising due to the very heavy rains and for this reason a series of decisions have been taken regarding traffic.

Given the critical situation, there is no shortage of messages of support, President of the Sardinia Region, Alessandra Todde, expressed solidarity with the people of Emilia-Romagna and Tuscany, affected by bad weather. He also announced the availability of the Sardinian Civil Protection to intervene to support emergency operations, if necessary.

"On behalf of the Sardinians and the Autonomous Region of Sardinia, I express my closeness to the populations of Emilia Romagna and Tuscany, who in these hours are suffering serious suffering due to the bad weather that is hitting their territories, and to the fellow presidents Michele De Pascale and Eugenio Giani, who find themselves having to manage a critical situation that endangers citizens.“, says President Alessandra Todde.

"In such a moment we need to give substance to solidarity. Prime Minister Meloni has made it known that she has had continuous contacts both with Minister Nello Musumeci and with the head of the Civil Protection Department Fabio Ciciliano.

Continuous interventions and closed roads

The heavy rains are also putting it to the test the state roads of the Tuscany and Emilia regions, where the situation is creating widespread criticalities for traffic.
