Precarious hygienic situation and lack of health authorization: 65 kg of food seized in a restaurant in Bologna.
Following reports from some citizens, operators of the Commercial Police Department and the San Donato-Vitale Territorial Department have carried out checks in a public establishment via Serena, San Donato area, in Bologna, while the administration activity was in progress. Officers found a precarious hygienic situation: floor and counters were particularly dirty and the equipment was encrusted, lack of air exchange due to the absence of the extractor hood. The place also was without health authorization for catering activities. Food such as meat and fish were abandoned in various parts of the premises and all the food contained in the refrigerators, pre-cooked and semi-processed, was devoid of mandatory indications relating to ingredients and allergens.
The agents have approximately 65 kg of food seized, including unidentifiable fish, bovine meat, sheep's feet, cow skin, unidentified molluscs, ready-made sauces, all foods without any element relating to mandatory traceability and, therefore, considered dangerous for the final consumer. The owner was sanctioned with a fine of around 2.500 euros, to which a second fine of 170 euros was added external illegal occupation, carried out with a blackboard. With regards to the conditions of the rooms and equipment, and the health authorizations of the owner, a request for investigations was sent to ASL Igiene Alimenti.
