The Police Commissioner of Pescara Luigi Liguori today issued two measures banning access to "DASpo" sports events in order to combat the phenomenon of violence at sports events.

The Police Commissioner of Pescara Luigi Liguori today issued two measures prohibiting access to "DASpo" Sports Events pursuant to art. 6 of law no. 401 of 31.12.1989 and subsequent amendments and additions in order to combat the phenomenon of violence during sporting events.
A 47-year-old and a 43-year-old, both belonging to the Pescara fans, during the "Pescara - Virtus Verona" football match which took place on Monday 22 May 2023, both during the influx phases outside the local "Adriatico G. Cornacchia" stadium and during the match, above the stands, they were responsible for lighting and using "smoke bombs", thus creating a serious danger to safety and public order.
The provision, issued following rapid investigations which made it possible to identify those responsible in a few hours, was issued as an emergency due to the gravity of the behavior which put public safety at serious risk, in view of the the upcoming quarter-final match which will also be played at the “G.Cornacchia” stadium tomorrow 27 May 2023. The two people addressed by the provision will not be able to access the stadium or other sports facilities for a period of one year starting from the date today and in case of non-compliance with the provision they will be reported under arrest to the Judicial Authority.
Investigations continue by the Police Headquarters aimed at identifying other fans from Pescara who were responsible for setting off flares commonly called flares during the match last Monday.
