The State Police continues its work tirelessly in preventing and combating the criminal phenomenon of copper thefts and receiving stolen goods, through targeted and constant checks aimed at preventing the illicit collection and sale of the precious material.
Today, patrol personnel, within the aforementioned operational context, reported at liberty a 32-year-old responsible for the theft of copper drainpipes.
In particular, at 6.30 am, at the operations room, a report was received of a man who was removing gutters from a building near the train station. The patrol cars immediately went to the reported area and a crew intercepted a man who, on a bicycle, at the sight of the patrol, tried to escape, throwing to the ground two bags containing crumpled gutters weighing a total of over 25 kg.
The man was caught and blocked even though he tried to break free violently. After the identification procedures, the 32-year-old was reported with the simultaneous seizure of the stolen material, the tools used to remove the gutters and the bicycle used to transport them.
A further complaint for the same crime was made in recent days against a 36-year-old, also in this case, the operations room of the Police Headquarters received a report of the theft of drainpipes in a building in Portanuova.
The patrol cars, immediately, in the vicinity of the place of the theft, noticed the presence on the street of two men who, taking advantage of a secluded area, were putting the gutters they had just removed into a bag. The two fled but one of them was later identified and reported for the theft.
At the same time, the officers carried out a check of the area and found other crumpled gutters ready to be taken away, as well as material useful for their removal.What was found was seized.
