Paternò: an argument between two families degenerates into a brawl. The Carabinieri have reported 11 people including a minor.

A complex case solved thanks to a meticulous and detailed investigation, which allowed the military to both reconstruct the phases of the fight and identify the participants in the violent and prolonged fight that took place in the Marvizzaro district, in the municipality of Paternò,exterior of the home of one of the two rival families.

It was ten o'clock in the evening when the staff of the Emergency Room of the Biancavilla Hospital reported to the Operations Centre of the Carabinieri Company of Paternò, the arrival of an entire family group of seven people, who arrived with head injuries attributable to beatings suffered during a fight, later discovered to have occurred shortly before in the Marvizzaro district.

The Carabinieri have immediately mobilized and wanted to shed light on the whole affair, delving into any detail that could be useful for the investigation and highlighting the responsibilities of each individual and the motive for the serious episode of violence.
Having listened to the protagonists of the events at a rapid pace throughout the night, their statements revealed that the fight had involved two different family groups, respectively living in the Marvizzaro district of Paternò and in the Scirfi district of Biancavilla.

As the Carabinieri have acquired new details on the dynamics of the event and have identified and listened to eyewitnesses of the facts, the circumstantial evidence against the 11 suspects then became increasingly clear and the investigators were able to trace the reasons for the fight, which according to what emerged was triggered by sentimental reasons.

Specifically, from the investigations It turned out that the children of the two opposing families had been in a romantic relationship for about a year, and, specifically, the 19-year-old son of the family from the Marvizzaro district would have become engaged to the minor daughter of the Biancavilla family; a relationship that would have consolidated when the girl would have decided to go and live with the boy at his family's house in the Marvizzaro district.

With time, the sentimental situation, however, would have worsened due to misunderstandings and continuous arguments between the minor and the mother of her boyfriend, of the disagreements that would have led to the first verbal clashes between the two families.

The epilogue of the story was last night, when the minor allegedly called her mother, telling her about yet another argument with her future mother-in-law, a story that would have aroused the ire of the Biancavilla family, maturing in them the decision to go and definitively avenge the numerous wrongs inflicted on their daughter, which would take the form of a real punitive expedition.

Once outside the villa in the Marvizzaro district, the Biancavilla family, supported by an uncle and a cousin of the minor, was welcomed by the seven members of the Paterno family, who, attracted by the barking of the dogs that signalled the arrival of two vehicles, they would have taken to the streets and, once they had realised the bad intentions of the members of the rival family, they would have started the attack.

Within seconds the two families would be move from words to deeds, in fact, in a short time the contenders would have come to blows. To further exacerbate the situation, the gesture of the 19-year-old boyfriend of the minor, who, seeing the relatives of his girlfriend who had arrived to recover her and take her away, he allegedly brandished a weapon, which later turned out to be a blank-firing pistol, and fired several shots in the air as an intimidation measure, arousing the resentment of the opposing family.

The attack then continued with sticks, even with the use of some clay pots that the contenders would throw at each other.

Following the intervention at the hospital, the Carabinieri went to the villa in Contrada Marvizzaro, for the necessary search for weapons, where they found shards of terracotta scattered everywhere, sticks strewn across the asphalt and a blank cartridge case and the blank pistol used by the 19-year-old.

At the moment the Carabinieri are still investigating to shed light on the details of the incident and to actually clarify the responsibilities of each person in what happened.Meanwhile, all the people involved were discharged from the hospital the same evening of the events, and all will have to answer before the Judicial Authority, Ordinary for adults and Minors for the minor for the crime of "aggravated brawl in competition", each having to provide explanations regarding their position in the context of the affair.
