The Finance Police of the Provincial Command of Padua, as part of an environmental police activity conducted in collaboration with the military of the Naval Air Operations Department of the Corps, have an area of approximately 2 thousand square meters used as a landfill for special waste classified as hazardous and non-hazardous has been seized.
The activities, carried out by the military of the Cittadella Company with the fundamental support of a helicopter in force at the Venice Air Section, originate from the constant monitoring of the areas located in the Alta Padovana. In particular, thanks to the sophisticated video recording system supplied to the aircraft, at a piece of land located in the municipality of borgoricco the presence of was identified a huge amount of waste in an evident state of abandonment.
The subsequent checks, also conducted with the assistance of the technical staff of ARPAV of Padua, allowed us to ascertain the unauthorized exercise of a hazardous and non-hazardous special waste management activity, in the absence of the required registration in the National Waste Registry.
Due to the potential health risks arising from the abandonment of the materials found, including asbestos, waste oil, household appliances and vehicles out of use, the Yellow Flames have proceeded to seizure of the entire area, deferring to the Public Prosecutor's Office of Padua a person responsible for the hypothesis of crime of unauthorized waste management, punished by the laws of the Consolidated Environmental Act.
The operation under review demonstrates the constant commitment of the Guardia di Finanza in the competition to the prevention and fight against environmental crimes to protect the health of citizens.
