The State Police of Turin, following a complex investigative activity originating from international collaboration and coordinated at a national level by the National Center for Combating Online Child Pornography (CNCPO) of the Postal and Communications Police Service, the investigators of the Security Operations Center Cybernetics for Piedmont and Valle D'Aosta proceeded with the arrest of a thirty-three-year-old worker in the promotional-advertising field, resident in Turin, found in possession of over 80.000 images produced through the sexual exploitation of minors.
During the IT search, conducted on behalf of the Turin AG, the Postal Police operators, in addition to noting the large quantity of child pornography files, ascertained the classification of the material in hidden folders, sometimes even subject to photo retouching through the use of graphics editing applications. We then proceeded with the flagrant arrest of the suspect, who, pending the validation hearing, was placed under house arrest at the disposal of the proceeding AG. The devices used to obtain the illicit material were seized from him.
The high quality of international police cooperation relationships in the cyber field, combined with the constant monitoring of the network's initiative aimed at preventing and combating criminal phenomena that may involve minors in online browsing, allow the Postal and Communications Police Specialization , even in the absence of the proposition of a formal complaint by the citizen, the conduct of investigative initiatives to contain the harmful effects caused by the distorted use of virtual connection tools on the web.
The criminal proceedings are in the preliminary investigation phase and therefore the presumption of innocence applies in favor of the suspects until the final sentence.
