Novara, Novara State Police - joint statement from the State Police and the Carabinieri: events that occurred in Biandrate - SI COBAS

Novara, this morning, starting around 7:00 am, a representation of around 15 members of OS SI COBAS, as part of the state of agitation announced at national level, presented themselves in front of the entrance to the Lidl distribution center in Biandrate (NO) intends to raise complaints against the company, expressed in extemporaneous disruptive actions.
At approximately 07, while the trade union activists were stationed in front of the entrances to the Lidl branch, a driver who works on behalf of a company commissioned by the LIDL, who was queued up behind other vehicles within the area of ​​the center of distribution on the exit lane, impatient with waiting, suddenly occupied the entry lane against traffic, moving the vehicle with repeated accelerations, despite the demonstrators being in front of the vehicle, and therefore clearly visible from the passenger compartment. Having no intention of moving, they remained in front of the vehicle, shouting and banging their hands on the cab, telling the driver not to continue driving. At the same time, personnel from the DIGOS of the State Police of Novara, present on the spot, immediately aware of what was happening and the related very serious danger, did everything possible, including physically showing their identification card, to order immediate halt to the driver. The vehicle, ignoring all warnings, continued its march, proceeding "in spurts", in order to gain the exit, and, having passed the gates, made a bend to the right to enter the road, forcing the demonstrators present in front of the vehicle to make sudden movements to avoid being overwhelmed.
During the right turn of the truck, the person in charge for the Province of Novara of the basic trade union acronym SI COBAS, who was in front of the vehicle
together with the other demonstrators, for reasons yet to be ascertained in detail, he ended up on the ground, being run over by the wheels on the right side of the vehicle, which, without stopping, continued its march, moving away from the place at high speed. The DIGOS agents immediately worked to ascertain the health conditions of those present and provide first aid, and then began chasing the truck, which by then had however gained a considerable distance.
The driver of the vehicle, once he reached the "Novara Ovest" toll booth on the A4 motorway, made a call to 112 NUE - effectively turning himself in - and was immediately reached by a crew from the Provincial Command of the Carabinieri of Novara, that stopped him. The driver is currently being held at the offices of the Novara Carabinieri Provincial Command awaiting evaluation by the local AG.
The young man was arrested for vehicular homicide, resistance and failure to provide assistance by the Carabinieri and the State Police.
