Novara: six shots fired to intimidate a group of young people, arrested by the police for possession of illegal weapons.

On the evening of July 27, 2023, at approximately 22.30 pm, three crews of the State Police they were sent to via della Riotta, a Novara, as six citizens had called 112 to report a man who had fired shots. Once on site, many people attracted attention and while one crew made contact with the applicants, the other two, led by an eyewitness to the facts, reached the front door of an apartment building into which the man had entered, still holding the firearm. Through the Operations Center the few names written on the intercom button panel were developed, until a man corresponding to the description provided was found. Seventy years of age, numerous judicial precedents, since the 80s, which included murder, kidnapping and robberies.

The three crews of the Volante then prepared to enter the apartment, securing themselves with bulletproof vests. The man, having noticed the movement under his home, after a brief conversation with the police, agreed to the request to go down to the street, where he was immediately handcuffed e searched. At this point the officers accessed the condominium staircase, and then into the apartment, which was cleared away, not finding the presence of third parties, except a large black dog, which was handed over to a friend of the homeowner who had arrived. A thorough search of the apartment premises was therefore carried out in search of weapons and explosive materials pursuant to art. 41 TULPS. At the end of the search a revolver-type pistol, 15 gunshots were found, as well as two electric stunners, approximately 63 grams of narcotic substance, a precision balance and cutting material. Everything was seized.

From expert investigations - also together with agents of the Flying Squad and the Scientific Police who had intervened in the meantime - it was learned that at 22.00 pm the seventy-year-old, together with a friend, was at a bar in Via della Riotta when, for trivial reasons, he began a fight with four North African boys. Annoyed by their provocative attitude, the man left the bar, reached the house in Corso Trieste, where he has been a guest for a few months, took a gun and returned to the bar. At that point he fired a few shots at the boys, not so much to hit them but to intimidate them, boys who then ran away. The sound of the shots attracted the attention of the other patrons of the club, two of whom decided to follow the man who, after having had a tantrum, was walking away again towards Corso Trieste. At the end of the investigation, the man, who confirmed the version provided by the witnesses, was arrested and reported for illegal possession of the weapon and for aggravated threats. The owner of the house, who in the meantime had arrived at the scene of the events and was accompanied to the police station, was handed over in a state of freedom for detention for the purpose of dealing the narcotic substance, as, during the search, the substance was found inside a wardrobe in the room for his own use. The arrest was validated and the measure of precautionary custody in prison was ordered.
