Monza, a documentary film on the Regicide in Villa Reale
A period documentary film on the last day of King Umberto I of Savoy killed by three gunshots by the anarchist Bresci in Monza on 29 July 1900. It was created by the Monza Regale association, on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the event that shocked Europe. Filming took place between the Royal Villa and the Expiatory Chapel, but also in the Royal Room in the station and at the old hospital. The documentary can be seen in an absolute preview, starting from Thursday 16 July, both in the center of Monza with a mega screen and on YouTube and social media channels. In the fiction, the day of the attack is precisely reconstructed with all its tragedy and even the funeral. From that day on, the Villa Reale was definitively abandoned and closed by the Savoys who used it as a holiday center for the sovereigns of Italy and the courts of Europe. Today once again its fate is divided between public and private.
