Monte Bondone: Local police on the slopes, 150 rescues and 18 fines.
Get to the heart of it winter season on Monte Bondone. In view of the increase in attendance during the white weeks and Carnival holidays, Local Police Skiing Group draws the attention of fans of the skiing and snowshoeing on the importance of respect for the rules and caution on the slopes.
This year, despite the little rainfall, the turnout on the slopes was intense, with a significant presence of foreign skiers. From December 6th to today, Local police it was operational everyday to ensure control, safety and rescue on the slopes, with two officers on the day shift and two on the night shift.
Interventions and sanctions
The commitment of the local police has led to 150 rescues, divided in:
- 14 interventions for collisions between skiers,
- 116 for accidental falls,
- 20 for ailments,
- 5 cases that required air rescue.
In addition to the injury response, the officers provided assistance to numerous skiers who, although not injured, found themselves in difficulty and were accompanied with the snowmobile for the return.
Furthermore, they were 18 sanctions imposed, of which:
- almost half for ski mountaineers who have crossed the tracks during opening hours,
- others for speed not adequate for one's capabilities and for collisions caused by reckless behavior,
- some for lack of compulsory insurance.
Invitation to use helmets and respect the rules
La Local police emphasizes the importance of wear a helmet, even for those who they are not required by law (currently the obligation only concerns minors of 18 years).
Many accidents have caused head trauma that could have been avoid or reduce with the use of a helmet. It is still found endurance among skiers aged 35 to 50, to whom it is recommended tightly to always protect yourself.
Ski mountaineering and snowshoeing: respecting the trails
Even this season there is a growing presence of ski mountaineers and snowshoers, with numbers that in the weekends vary between 300 and 500 people.
Many of them date back to Vaneze to Vason, then continue on to top of Palon thanks to new Mughi trail. However, to ensure the safety of those who have purchased a ski pass, who practices it ski mountaineering or snowshoeing must use safe trails separated from the ski slopes.
