Modena, car breaks down. Rescued and then reported for false driving license

A 26-year-old driver from Gambia, with a regular residence permit, stopped with his broken-down car on the Pirandello ring road. After helping him, the Modena local police officers subjected the car and driver to checks, which revealed that the man was in possession of a false driving license and for this reason he was reported. Furthermore, the car was found to be without insurance coverage and without a MOT.

The incident occurred shortly after 23:29 p.m. on Tuesday, October 1, when the man, a resident of the province, driving a BMW 12 series model car, stopped on the Pirandello Nord ring road, heading towards Bologna, near the junction of exit XNUMX, due to an engine failure. Due to the traffic obstruction reported by motorists, operators from the Via Galilei Command arrived on site and, once they had provided assistance to the driver, subjected him to checks.

Modena, auto in panne. Soccorso e poi denunciato per patente falsa

The investigations revealed that the car, owned by a woman resident in the province, was without insurance coverage and MOT, while the man was in possession of a false Polish driving license and did not appear to have ever obtained a driving document in Italy; furthermore, he had with him a valid identity card but with personal details different from those reported in the driving document and in the residence permit obtained.

In addition to the seizure of the vehicle because it was uninsured, the driver was also subject to administrative sanctions totaling almost eight thousand euros, which include: driving without a license, lack of MOT and insurance, and an additional sanction for not having taken custody of the vehicle as required by law (in this case, since he did not have a license, he could have arranged for the transportation of the vehicle through an acquaintance or a roadside assistance vehicle).

Furthermore, he was also reported for material forgery committed by a private individual, a crime that can lead to a sentence of up to two years in prison. Driving without a license carries an administrative penalty, while presenting a false document is a crime, with the related criminal consequences. There have already been several cases of foreign citizens who in recent months have presented falsified driving documents, but easily identifiable, probably obtained online.
