Milano, they steal vans by replacing the control units: 2 arrests.

On the morning of May 14, 2022, the Carabinieri of the Sesto San Giovanni Company (MI) have implemented an Order of Precautionary Custody in Prison issued by the GIP of the Court of Monza, at the request of the local Prosecutor's Office, against 2 Italians, aged 53 and 51, with a history of aggravated theft, residents in the provinces of Monza and Milano, held responsible, in conjunction with each other, for several aggravated thefts committed in the provinces of Milano and Monza Brianza.

The provision arises from an investigation activity launched, in October 2021, from the Carabinieri Station of Sesto San Giovanni (MI), on behalf of the Public Prosecutor's Office of Monza following the identification of the perpetrators of the theft of a van, occurred precisely in that municipality.

The investigations, conducted both through technical activities such as telephone interceptions and through traditional observation, control and shadowing services, made it possible to gather serious evidence against the two men who, demonstrating excellent skills, managed to replace, in a few minutes, the original engine control unit of the vehicle to be removed with a decoded one, which allowed it to be started.

They come to those arrested 7 incidents of theft were disputed, of as many vans, sold in the Milanese and Brianzolo hinterland.

During the investigation, in November 2021, the military managed to recover, in the municipality of Cinisello Balsamo, 2 vans, stolen a few days earlier, respectively in Milano and Bovisio Masciago.

Always in constant investigative activity, the police arrested one of the two accomplices, caught red-handed while he was removing a van in Milano.

The vehicles removed, were subsequently sold to compliant third parties, mostly operators in the vehicle demolition sector, who took care of the partitioning and subsequent resale of the various components.

The arrested were taken to the district house of Monza, available to the mandating Judicial Authority, whose questions they will be asked to answer in the next few days.
