Milano, five pickpockets arrested by the police: they stole the money they had just taken from elderly people

The policemen, Wednesday morning 24 April, they noticed in Oberdan square a group of five people of South American origin who were wandering around in a suspicious manner who, after having extracted some banknotes from a wallet, then left it in a waste bin.

Il group, after having divided the banknotes among themselves, he moved towards Viale Regina Giovanna until he reached the vicinity of a bank in Piazza Santa Francesca Romana where there was an elderly man who was making a withdrawal from the ATM. Two of the group tried and failed to steal the wallet from the man's trousers. The officers, who witnessed the scene, stopped all five people.

In the wallet, which had been left in the waste bin shortly before, there were the identity documents of a 70-year-old Italian citizen who, once contacted, reached the police station to file a complaint. The man, shortly before in Piazzale Gobetti, after having withdrawn 200 euros, was hit in the back with a red liquid substance, probably ketchup. The elderly man, not understanding what was happening, was approached by a couple who wanted to help him, but shortly after they left he noticed that his wallet was missing. By viewing the video surveillance cameras, the police were able to see everything that had happened previously, they identified the five perpetrators of the theft and, inside the 41-year-old's bag, they found some ketchup sachets.
