Livorno: sexual assault against a disabled student. Professor arrested.

By order of the Public Prosecutor's Office of Livorno, the Carabinieri of the Operational and Radiomobile Unit of Livorno have executed a precautionary custody order in prison against a teacher of a city higher education institution seriously suspected of the crime of multiple aggravated sexual violence against a disabled student in conditions of gravity.

The investigations by the Carabinieri, coordinated by the Labronica Prosecutor's Office, were started following the report from the School Management of the institute where the teacher carried out the support activity, for anomalous and suspicious behavior.

The man had been noticed by school staff on several occasions in isolated and inaccessible areas of the school complex in the company of the disabled student and on several occasions he would also have uttered offensive phrases and comments of a sexual nature not only towards the young girl entrusted to him but also towards colleagues and other students.

The military personnel then carried out an initial reconstruction of the events, seeking confirmation first through witness interviews.

Given the elements collected and the seriousness of the alleged conduct, everything was promptly reported to the Deputy Prosecutor in charge of the file who issued a personal and domiciliary search warrant against the teacher. Despite attempts to conceal elements also through a encrypted device, various computer material was extracted, consisting of videos and photos with sexually explicit content, referring to several occasions, a clear indication of the absence of any, even minimal, form of self-control on the part of the teacher.

The very serious and consistent elements of guilt that have emerged so far against the suspect, which have highlighted his extreme dangerousness, have led the Judicial Authority to issue him with a restrictive precautionary measure. Measure deemed adequate both to the intrinsic gravity of the facts committed and to the personality of the suspect, who has highlighted a marked propensity to commit crimes in sexual matters, and deemed suitable to prevent him from repeating the crime to the detriment of the pupil or other victims.

The Judge has in fact carefully considered the fact that l'the man appears to have contact with young people and very young people not for professional reasons but also in relation to activities carried out in the private sphere.

The degree of the precautionary measure was influenced by the fact that the violence was allegedly carried out inside a school, which teacher is to be considered a public official that he would have committed the facts in the exercise of his functions, against a minor victim entrusted to him for reasons of education, instruction and custody, taking advantage without scruples, as well as of the very significant age difference and of the conditions of significant inferiority she young, of which the man was certainly aware, such as to make it impossible for her to offer him any valid resistance.

The police then proceeded to implement the provision and, having completed the formalities, took the man to prison.
