Livorno: a criminal group imported drugs from Peru. Thanks to the investigation called “Mexal” 15 people were investigated.

The Carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Livorno have been carrying out operations since the early hours of this morning an application order for precautionary measures – issued by the GIP of the Court of Livorno at the request of the local Public Prosecutor's Office – against 15 individuals, 6 Italians and 9 non-EU citizens , all aged between 26 and 67, held responsible, in various capacities and in complicity with each other, for trafficking, importation from Peru and Spain and dealing in narcotic substances such as hashish, cocaine, heroin, methadone, as well as mescaline and kratom.

The investigation, called “Mexal”, launched following a report from the DCSA – Central Directorate for Anti-Drug Services regarding the seizure carried out in France in 2023 of a package from Peru containing a narcotic substance of the “Mescaline” type addressed to a woman from Rosignano Marittimo (LI), allowed identify a thriving drug dealing business which involved several provinces in Tuscany and Liguria for a turnover, in seven months, estimated at €150.000.

Mescaline and Kratom were imported via international shipments following the purchase via cryptocurrency on the darkweb/Telegram or through trips made personally by one of the main suspects.
