Apartment thieves, gang defeated Milano and hinterland
They raided apartments in Milano, Sesto and throughout Lombardy. They then sold stolen jewels and trinkets by placing them in various compliant shops in the area and not only in the Region, thanks to a network of accomplices including bus drivers who acted as couriers and shopkeepers.
The gang, which was defeated by the police in various phases, was mainly made up of Albanians. From the early hours of Tuesday 13 July, in the provinces of Milano, Forlì and Savona, the military of Company of Sesto San Giovanni, supported by the territorially competent commands, arrested 15 people (of which 10 in prison and 5 under house arrest), at the request of the Public Prosecutor's Office of Monza – Replacement Proc. Dr. Michele Trianni – and seized bank accounts and equivalent assets for a total value of 315 thousand euros. The recipients, 9 foreigners (7 Albanians and 2 Egyptians) and 6 Italians, are all held responsible, in various capacities, of thefts in homes, receiving and laundering precious jewelery and watches.
The restrictive measures come at the conclusion of a broader investigative activity launched by the Carabinieri of the Tenenza of Paderno Dugnano, and of the Operational Section of the Company of Sesto San Giovanni, in the month of May 2018, which, over time, has developed into three different strands of investigation, one complementary to the other, allowing to reveal respectively: in the municipality of Paderno Dugnano, two very important operational bases headed by Albanian subjects dedicated to the laundering of precious items, proceeds of home thefts; in other municipalities of the metropolitan city of Milano and the province of Monza and Brianza, various groups of Albanian criminals, organized and dedicated to carrying out home burglaries in Northern Italy; Milano and in the province of Savona, the identification of: three commercial businesses (of which two are "gold buyers" and one trades in costume jewellery); a wealth manager, working for an important company holding financial; all responsible for the definitive recycling of the jewellery, through an initial fusion (with the creation of the so-called “verga”), to then be sent to the metal banks for the transformation of the molten gold into ingots to be used for financial trade.
The investigative activity, as a whole, which concluded with the restrictive measures being implemented, has allowed, from 2018 to date, to: identify 72 individuals responsible, in various capacities, for various thefts across the national territory, allocating the proceeds to groups of fences with a logistical base in Paderno Dugnano; of which: 27 arrested in flagrante delicto or recipients of a provision from the AG, already executed by the Sesto San Giovanni Company; 15 recipients of the restrictive measure in execution; 29 released in a state of freedom. subject to seizure of large quantities of gold and precious items, proceeds of thefts, fast cars kept in garages and ready for the commission of predatory crimes, as well as cash, destined for abroad, in particular in Albania; identify: commercial operators, through which the criminals ensured the laundering of illicit proceeds; scheduled couriers (drivers of bus numbers), used for transferring money and goods abroad; supporters, dedicated to finding apartments and garages for hiding the large-engined cars used to commit the crimes.
