On January 17th, an impressive operational service was implemented with the aim of guaranteeing greater levels of safety in areas considered at risk. In particular, the city of Montecchio Maggiore was affected by targeted checks aimed at the prevention and repression of crimes of a predatory nature, thefts from homes and commercial activities, as well as those relating to drug dealing and irregular presence on the national territory. .

A targeted control activity was also carried out on public establishments, especially in the food and beverage supply sector, also to verify compliance with sector regulations.

Checkpoints were carried out in various strategic points of the city and surrounding areas, with a view to preventing and combating criminal activities, also paying attention to the major road arteries, often used as escape routes after the commission of crimes of a predatory nature .

Targeted checks were also carried out on certain particular objectives reported by the Mayor of Montecchio Maggiore in a logic of collaboration and maximum synergy between the bodies which in various capacities carry out tasks relating to public safety.

Crews from the State Police, the Carabinieri, the Guardia di Finanza and the Montecchio Maggiore Local Police participated in the High Impact activity, with the following contributions:

– For the State Police: crews from the Vicenza Police Headquarters – Flying Office, Immigration Office, Scientific Police, Road Police Section, Railway Police Section, and “Veneto” Crime Prevention Department of Padua;

The aforementioned operational module therefore allowed the deployment in the territory of 37 specialized operators, belonging to the various offices and commands indicated above.

Check real commercial establishments (bars and taverns) reported by the neighborhood for annoying noises or for the notable presence of people who cause disturbance.

Targeted checks were also carried out at some condominium complexes reported by the municipal administration as a possible meeting place for irregular foreigners, for a careful verification of residence positions.

with criminal and/or police records: 16

The operation made it possible to acquire useful elements that could be developed and investigated further by the judicial police offices.

Further investigations are still underway by the specialist offices of the various forces involved for in-depth analysis of the sector.

Some of the results achieved, given their possible criminal relevance, are being examined by the Judicial Authority.

The Police Commissioner of the province of Vicenza has adopted the following measures following a report from the Commands whose men participated in the operation:

· 1 Accompanying decree to the Bologna air border (where he was escorted by Police Headquarters staff) for immediate boarding on an international flight, for a Nigerian citizen (DO born in Benin City in 1985), who had been in Italy for some time illegally without any work activity, living on the streets, without a fixed abode

· 2 Oral Warnings against Italian citizens with numerous criminal and/or police records (for crimes against the person and against property) which attested to their social dangerousness.

The checks carried out and the activities carried out are a clear signal of the synergy implemented by all law enforcement agencies to ensure the safety of citizens.

Inter-institutional synergy was at the center of a meeting of the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Security which took place yesterday at the Prefecture, in the presence of the Mayor of Montecchio Maggiore who expressed his satisfaction with the convening of the meeting in within which the situation of public order and safety in the municipal area was further explored in relation to the most recent criminal acts which occurred last December and in the first days of the new year.

Together with the Commander of the Local Police, at the meeting targeted services were planned in the city areas reported by the Mayor and deemed worthy of greater attention, areas in which the surveillance and control devices of all the Police Forces present in that context will be concentrated urban.

Furthermore, with the Mayor, the territorial areas that will be covered in the neighborhood control project which will shortly be signed between the Municipality and the Prefecture were better defined.

Furthermore, the Mayor favorably accepted the proposal put forward by the "Committee" for the implementation of the municipal video surveillance system for which the Municipal Administration of Montecchio Maggiore will prepare a specific plan for the purposes of formulating the request for financing as part of the strengthening of the urban security, ensured by the Ministry of the Interior.

The meeting ended with the understanding that control activities will continue both through the performance of targeted services by the territorial components and through the re-proposal of high-impact inter-force services.

The Comment by the Mayor of Montecchio M. «This joint operation is a first response to the requests for greater control of the territory formulated by our municipal administration», declares the Mayor Gianfranco Trapula. "I thank the Police Commissioner and all the law enforcement agencies involved for giving citizens a clear signal of the presence of the institutions and the commitment put in place in contrasting and fighting crime."
