Last Tuesday 16 January the staff of the Crime Prevention Department of the "Piedmont" State Police and of the Merano Railway Police Post (BZ) carried out the flagrant arrest of a 52-year-old Italian citizen in Merano for failure to comply with Surveillance. Special with obligation to stay in the municipality of Bolzano.
Specifically, the man was stopped near the train station for a joint check, discovering that he had arbitrarily left his home without the prior authorization of the Surveillance Court of Reggio Calabria, which issued the provision about a year ago for the duration of 3 years.
The person, with multiple criminal convictions, was taken to the office and declared under arrest, a measure validated by the South Tyrolean Judicial Authority after a few hours which released him pending the celebration of the already scheduled trial.
It is specified that, due to the principle of the presumption of innocence, the criminal responsibility of the suspect will be ascertained only at the outcome of the trial with an irrevocable criminal sentence.
