Livorno. Among the phenomena paid attention to and scams are opposed by the Carabinieri, on which many information meetings were held throughout the province. Fortunately, even through the collaboration of the citizen, Carabinieri investigations are often successful unmask and denounce the authors.

In this context, i Carabinieri of the Piombino station, after some checks and investigations, they identified the alleged perpetrator of a scam against a 76-year-old local woman, perpetrated through a popular instant messaging application. The victim, misled by the confidential tone of the message, although coming from a user unknown to her, believed in good faith that she was speaking to her son who, with a new telephone number, he asked her for money so he could urgently buy a new computer.

The woman, believing she was doing the right thing, therefore carried out the procedure a bank transfer of 3300 euros to the IBAN provided to you by the interlocutor. A few days later, however, he discovered the fiction, when the 'real' son called her with the usual mobile phone number and revealed that he had never asked her for money for a computer.
Once she became certain that she had been deceived, she turned to the Carabinieri who, in the space of a short time, also through checks on the flow of money, they managed to identify the alleged perpetrator of the scam. It appears to be a woman, a 59-year-old from the Ragusa area, who was reported in a state of freedom to the Livorno AG.
The Carabinieri's invitation is to always report scams, even if not consumed, to allow identification of the authors and referral to the Judicial Authority.
