The escape of a 07.00-year-old from Linguaglossa, with a criminal record, who was captured and arrested by the Carabinieri of the Operational Unit of the Giarre Company, ended at 50:XNUMX this morning.

The events that led to his arrest occurred the evening before around 22.00pm when a bar kiosk located in the Trepunti district of Giarre was broken into the scene of a serious episode of violence involving the owner of a kiosk and the police.

The 50-year-old repeat offender, currently under house arrest, went to the kiosk accompanied by his wife, son and daughter-in-law. After having Kiosk owner attacked due to old grudges, the group left the place shortly before the arrival of the Carabinieri, called by the owner of the business.

While the military collected the images of the CCTV cameras, they listened to the witnesses present, and carried out the inspection, the man returned to the place driving his car and after slowing down, suddenly, he pulled out a gun and opened fire, firing eleven shots at the soldiers and those present in front of the kiosk.

During the shooting, a Deputy Brigadier of the Radiomobile Section of the Carabinieri Company of Giarre was hit superficially in the head, suffering a lacerated wound.

The attacker, after shooting, fled but, immediately The Carabinieri have started their searches, while the Scientific Investigations Section of Catania carried out technical surveys at the crime scene.
The identification of the culprit was almost immediate, thanks to the testimonies received by the Carabinieri on site and also thanks to the Viewing images from video surveillance systems present in that place.

The car used by the fugitive was later found by the military of the Carabinieri in the countryside near his home in Linguaglossa, but at that moment there was no trace of the man.

The searches, without interruption, lasted all night, and ended only at 07.00 this morning when, a team from the Giarre Operations Section, supported by other teams from Randazzo, remained to observe the house of the person being captured in a hidden manner, they saw him walking back through the trees, probably with the intention of recovering the car he had left there shortly before.

The blitz was launched immediately and the military gave him no escape, in fact with the necessary precautions and security measures, they blocked and arrested him.

The search for the weapon used by the criminal is still ongoing by investigators actively involved in reconstructing the facts.
