Genoa: French citizen wanted for murder stopped at station
The Genoa Railway Police, during territorial control services inside the Brignole railway station, stopped on May 14th for a check a person who, after noticing the officers, he hastily attempted to exit the station.
The nervousness shown by the man during his identification pushed the police to deepen the checks on him.
Having ascertained his exact personal identity, it emerged regarding him, in the database used by the police, a European arrest warrant issued on May 14th by the Court of Appeal of the Judicial Tribunal of the city of Grasse (France), as the subject, a 44-year-old French citizen of Algerian origins, is accused of killing his partner on May 12th in the municipality of Antibes (France) where he resides.
The story began on 11 May 2024 when the same individual had alerted the emergency services by telephone because he had not heard from his girlfriend who should have been at his home in Antibes. When the French authorities arrived at her home, they found the woman's body lifeless and with numerous traces of serious trauma suffered. At the same time the man, his initials ZF, got rid of his cell phone and lost his braids.
The foreigner had already been convicted in 2022 by the same Court for some violence perpetrated against his partner and the Judge had subjected him to a ban on approaching the same woman until 25.02.2025.
Subsequent investigations carried out by the Railway Police together with the Sirens Division of the International Police Cooperation Service and the Ventimiglia Police Cooperation Centre, and with the collaboration of the same French Police authorities, allowed them to ascertain that the man, who had just arrived in Italy through the Ventimiglia border, was attempting to embark in Genoa bound for Algeria.
After informing the competent Judicial Authority, the police took him to the Genoa Marassi Prison awaiting extradition to France.
