Garlasco: Chiara Poggi's family becomes injured party in the investigation on Andrea Sempio

Years after the murder of Chiara Poggi, which occurred on 13 August 2007 in Garlasco, the victim's family has decided to constitute itself as injured party in the new procedure which sees Andrea Sempio, a friend of the murdered girl's brother, under investigation. Although Alberto Stasi was definitively sentenced to 16 years in prison, Chiara's parents and brother believe it is essential to contribute to the new investigations to definitively clarify Sempio's position.

The Role of the Poggi Family in the New Proceedings

According to the Poggi family's lawyers, the lawyers Gian Luigi Tizzoni and Francesco Compagna, the decision to actively participate in the investigations arises from the need to acquire a full knowledge of all the evidentiary data emerged in the trial that led to Stasi's conviction. The lawyers have in fact received a communication from the Pavia Prosecutor's Office, in which the right of Chiara's close relatives to contribute to the ascertainment of the truth.

With their constitution as injured party, the victim's relatives will now have the possibility of appointing independent consultants, taking part in all scientific and investigative findings ordered by the Prosecutor's Office, including:

• DNA Extrapolation and Comparison by Andrea Sempio with the one found under Chiara's nails and on her fingers.
• Fingerprint and genetic analysis, if the Prosecutor's Office decides to proceed with new tests.
• The study of the shoe print with dots, already the subject of analysis during previous investigations.

Andrea Sempio's position: investigations already closed twice

The position of Andrea Sempio, now 37 years old, It has already been archived twice, in 2017 and 2020, following the evaluations of several magistrates. However, the new investigations have refocused attention on him. The Poggi family, while confirming their belief in the guilt of Alberto Stasi, believes it is necessary that full light be shed on the affair.
