Gang rape of 16-year-old: two youths arrested after being caught by DNA
A serious episode of gang rape on a 16-year-old girl, which occurred on the night between August 5 and 6 in Rimini. The alleged attackers, an eighteen-year-old and a seventeen-year-old resident of Fano, were arrested thanks to decisive evidence, including DNA analysis.
The fact
The story came to light when the minor called the emergency number 113 to ask for help, declaring that she felt ill after spending the evening with two boys she met on social media. According to reports, the girl had agreed to a paid sexual encounter, but once in the car with the two young men, she changed her mind and asked to be taken home. Instead of listening to her, the boys threatened her and, after raping her, abandoned her on the street during the night
Investigations and arrests
The investigation began immediately after the victim's call. The Carabinieri examined the recordings from surveillance cameras in the area where the girl was left. This allowed them to trace the car used by the alleged attackers and their itinerary. However, it was the DNA evidence that provided the final confirmation of their guilt. The samples taken from the victim were compared with those of the suspects, revealing an almost total compatibility
The two young men were investigated for gang rape, aggravated by the use of narcotics, personal injury and dealing. The precautionary measures were issued by the judge for preliminary investigations Raffaella Ceccarelli for the adult and by the judge of the Juvenile Court for the minor.
The victim's testimony
The girl's testimony was fundamental for the beginning of the investigation. Despite the shock she suffered and the effect of the substances taken during the incident, the young woman had the courage to report the incident. During the hospital visit, the seriousness of the situation was confirmed: the victim was discharged with a prognosis of 30 days.
