Frosinone, the perpetrator of the arson attack at the “Pianeta outlet” stopped by the State Police
This morning, at the end of investigative activity supported by technical activities, the State Police of Frosinone executed the arrest of a 47-year-old resident of the capital, considered responsible for the arson that on the night of November 16th devastated the commercial establishment “pianeta outlet”, inaugurated only a week before.
In the early hours of Saturday, November 16, personnel from the patrol cars and the mobile squad of the Frosinone Police Headquarters intervened at the commercial activity affected by a violent fire. From the very first moments, as will later be confirmed both by the video surveillance footage acquired and by the firefighters who intervened, the malicious origin of the criminal event was ascertained.
The detectives of the Flying Squad immediately began a detailed investigation and acquired the video surveillance images of the commercial establishment, which show a male subject, partially disguised by a hat, who with a hammer breaks the glass of a door and then pours in flammable liquid and deliberately starts the fire, fleeing immediately after by climbing over the fence.
The operators were able to reconstruct the path of the offender through the videos progressively acquired in the “Frosinone-scalo” area, the analysis and comparison of the various images of which allowed the identification of the perpetrator of the crime.
In particular, the latter was captured by various video surveillance systems before he started the fire, while he was walking along the street adjacent to the premises. The man was recognized by the operators as a subject known for several criminal records, including drug dealing, theft and extortion.
Furthermore, it was discovered that in the days preceding the fire there had been a similar attempt carried out by the same man during the night between 11 and 12 November, which had failed due to the intervention of private security personnel.
Based on the elements that emerged, today the Flying Squad personnel carried out a search on behalf of the Public Prosecutor's Office of Frosinone who coordinated the investigations at the home of the perpetrator of the crime, which allowed the recovery of the items of clothing worn by the same during the criminal events.
The man, at the sight of the officers, tried to flee, but was promptly stopped by the officers. He was therefore arrested as a suspect in a crime and taken to the Frosinone prison.
Investigations are still ongoing and investigators are getting closer to identifying the instigators of the criminal event.
