Extraordinary control of the territory: Police activities to combat illegal phenomena in the province of Vicenza.

They ended yesterday late in the evening Extraordinary Territorial Control Operations arranged with Order from the Police Commissioner of the Province of Vicenza Paolo Sartori, which affected the municipal territory of the Vicenza capital. The activities carried out on Tuesday 18 July - agreed within the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Security - were mostly concentrated in the "risk areas" of the City, also following reports received from citizens who reported the presence - especially in Ponte degli Angeli, in Viale San Lazzaro, in Viale SS. Felice e Fortunato, in Piazzale Bologna and in the gardens of Campo Marzio – of annoying subjects, who often behave in an unurban manner and sometimes even dangerous for public order and safety.

Furthermore, specific checks were carried out in Piazza Matteotti and throughout the Quadrilatero area, while, in the evening hours, the city center was carefully monitored, and 5 public businesses and games rooms / VLTs were inspected. The purpose of these operational activities is to counteract, maintaining high visibility of the presence of the Police Force, those phenomena of illegality which cause a widespread perception of "insecurity" among citizens, such as drug dealing, crimes against property and in general the phenomena of petty crime connected to predatory crimes; in this context, subjects intent on bivouacking on benches, consuming alcohol and disturbing people and commercial activities, were identified and removed from the capital with Personal Prevention Measures and other similar measures ordered by the Police Commissioner.

During the checks in Corso SS. Happy and Lucky are the Agents of the "Volanti" Team, following a request received at the Police Headquarters Operations Center from a citizen whose bicycle had been stolen, on the instructions of the victim - who shortly before had seen a subject with a bicycle which he recognized to be, without a shadow of a doubt, the one that had been stolen from him - they stopped and identified this OO, a 31-year-old Nigerian citizen residing in the city. At the end of the Judicial Police activities, he was reported to the Public Prosecutor's Office for receiving stolen goods, while, at the same time, the stolen bicycle was returned to the rightful owner. During the various phases of the police operation, carried out with the use of approximately 20 men and women belonging to the Vicenza Police Headquarters, the Local Police of the capital and the Crime Prevention Department of the State Police, they were checked - also during of the 3 checkpoints carried out along the arteries leading to the capital - 65 vehicles and 87 people, of which 37 foreigners and 25 with criminal and/or police records.
At the end of the operational activities, Police Commissioner Sartori adopted the following measures:

5 Mandatory Street Sheets (by the Municipality of Vicenza) against people with criminal and/or police records, who found themselves without appreciable reason and in unjustified circumstances in the Municipality of Vicenza;
2 Orders of Expulsion from the National Territory against as many non-EU citizens who, during the checks, were found to be irregular in Italy and with criminal and/or police prejudices against them. Following the investigations carried out by the Immigration Office, the Police Commissioner issued as many expulsion decrees, ordering these people to leave the territory within 14 days; if they do not comply, they will be reported to the Public Prosecutor's Office and forcibly accompanied to their country of origin;
3 Oral Notices (Prevention Measure provided for by the Code of Anti-Mafia Laws) against as many Italian and foreign citizens who denote a marked social danger due to criminal and/or police records for crimes of various kinds including crimes against the person, for dealing in narcotic substances, or against property. “The State Police represent an important point of reference for citizens. It is of fundamental importance to learn closely what the needs of citizens are in terms of urban security and public order – highlighted Commissioner Sartori at the end of the operations – It is necessary to systematically maintain the visible presence of Police Force operators for the purposes of effective deterrence, so as to increase the sense of tranquility of the entire community".
