Da Milano in Caserta: maximum anti-fraud and money laundering operation by the police

From the 13 July, in the provinces of Caserta, Turin and Isernia, a operation of the Carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Milano, with the support of those of the territorially competent Provincial Commands, who are implementing two precautionary measures, issued by the GIP of the Court of Santa Maria Capua Vetere on the proposal of the local Public Prosecutor's Office, against 16 people, held in various capacities responsible for criminal conspiracy to commit aggravated fraud, money laundering and self-laundering, fraudulent transfer of values, abusive exercise of insurance and insurance intermediation activities and use of counterfeit trademarks and signs.

During 2017, faced with a significant increase in the number of complaints presented by primary insurance groups complaining about the marketing of fake RCA insurance policies under their brand, the Investigative Unit of Milano, after having developed an in-depth analysis activity which has allowed us to photograph the breadth and diffusion of the phenomenon at a national level, started a structured investigation, initially with the Public Prosecutor's Office Milano, whose primary acquisitions immediately made it possible to identify the place of rooting of the association in the Aversa countryside.

Therefore starting from January 2018, with the transfer by territorial jurisdiction to Prosecutor of Santa Maria Capua Vetere, the existence of a criminal association structured and operating since at least 2012 mainly in the municipalities of Villa Literno, Cancello and Arnone and Castel Volturno, dedicated to counterfeiting and marketing - through many dozens of sites website of fake insurance intermediaries - of temporary, half-yearly and annual RCA insurance policies. During the operations, an preventive seizure of assets, for a total value of 30 million euros, and relating to: 2 slot and betting halls, 18 car resale companies, 1 clothing trading company, 1 clothing store, 1 property, 3 lands, 1 motorboat, numerous cars, including luxury ones, as well as numerous financial relationships.
