Cremona: Coordinated service across a wide area, checks in schools and in the city centre
The Carabinieri of the Cremona Company, together with the Carabinieri Canine Unit of Orio al Serio and their colleagues from the Labour Inspectorate Unit and the Anti-adulteration and Health Unit were engaged in a coordinated service across the Cremona area. A total of 16 men were employed, who checked numerous people (45) and vehicles (20) throughout the morning, with a particular attention to the student world.
The checks were carried out initially in the student influx area; the military checked the area of the tram station and the adjacent covered public parking lots, and other areas usually frequented by children before going to school, also in order to combat the use of narcotic substances thanks to the help of “GROM”, a splendid Labrador specimen from the Carabinieri Canine Unit of Orio al Serio. It is curious that the beautiful "puppy" has instead 9 years and that today was his last “job” before his well-deserved retirement!
Subsequently, the soldiers moved inside a Scholastic Institute of the province where, in the context of a prevention plan agreed with the school management, the common areas frequented by the children were checked, in particular. The presence of the dog was a pleasant surprise for the children who, amused, observed with curiosity the dog's activity, not sparing numerous questions, especially concerning the training methods of these incredible animals.
The checks also had a positive impact on some parents present for the interviews with the teachers, who expressed feelings of gratitude and recognition to the operators for the attention paid to the safety of the school environment and to the prevention of youth distress. At the same time, the Carabinieri of the NAS and the NIL They carried out various checks on public places in the area, particularly aimed at verifying the possible administration of alcohol to minors as well as the use and exploitation of illegal labour.
The soldiers of the Labor Inspectorate Unit they fined the managers of a public place for failure to implement rules relating to first aid and fire prevention; those of the Anti-adulteration and Health Unit have issued some management adjustment requirements towards the managers of another venue in the city.
Finally, it could not be missed, since it is also market day, a check in the city centre, in order to prevent annoying thefts and pickpocketing which are often committed on those days when the presence of more people allows criminals to act more easily. All those areas that in recent weeks have become the scene of problems relating to security and urban decorum, in particular those gravitating around Piazza Roma, have been “beaten”; Here too, the military, with the help of dog handlers, checked numerous people, leaving a tangible sign of the constant presence of the institutions.
