Cosenza: intense drug trafficking in the city, 5 investigated

The Carabinieri of the Cosenza Company have executed an order of personal precautionary measure issued by the GIP at the Court of Cosenza, at the request of the local Public Prosecutor's Office, against 5 suspects, known to the Police Forces, four of whom are from Cosenza and one from Montalto Uffugo (CS), considered responsible for illicit possession and supply of narcotic substances such as hashish, marijuana and cocaine, in the city of Cosenza.

In this regard, we inform you, in respect of the rights of the suspects (to be considered presumed innocent in consideration of the current phase of the proceedings until a definitive finding of guilt with an irrevocable sentence), in order to guarantee the constitutionally guaranteed right to freedom of the press, that each of them was charged with the crime referred to in the art. 73 Presidential Decree n.309/1990, committed, sometimes, in conjunction with each other.

The GIP at the Cosenza Court has ordered the precautionary custody in prison for 3 suspects and house arrest for 2 suspects.

There were several documented sales of narcotic substances, for a reasonable sum of money, mainly in the city areas of "Santa Teresa" and "San Vito".
The investigations were carried out by the Carabinieri of the Operational Section of the Operational and Radiomobile Nucleus of the Cosenza Company.

During the investigative activity, one of the suspects, recipient of a personal precautionary measure, was arrested in flagrante delicto, in Montalto Uffugo (CS), for illicit detention of approximately 5,5 kg of hashish, 190 gr. of marijuana, 560 gr. of cocaine and a semi-automatic pistol cal. 7.65, with serial number abraded, with magazine containing 7 cartridges of the same caliber.
